Shaquille O’Neal treats himself to custom widebody Tesla Cybertruck

A stock Tesla Cybertruck just isn’t flashy enough for the famous NBA legend

NBA legend Shaquille ‘Shaq’ O’Neal recently took to his Instagram page to show off his latest toy, a tricked-out Tesla Cybertruck that’s been dubbed the ‘first-of-its-kind.’ Even in stock form, Elon Musk’s creation is hard to miss, an other-wordly stainless steel can with weird edges and angles all over the place.

However, when you are a larger-than-life, 7-foot-1 NBA Hall of Famer like Shaq, even a stock Cybertruck may just be a tad too ordinary for your tastes. That’s why he had his Cybertruck customized with a glossy black wrap and a carbon-fibre widebody kit, giving the electric truck a decidedly menacing look.

That’s not all — the front and rear bumpers feature custom ‘CyberDiesel’ decals in Tesla’s Cybertruck font. A red under-glow matches the truck’s bright headlights, while the stock wheels have been swapped for 26-inch black Forgiato wheels and some serious off-road tires.

The CyberTruck’s unique modifications caught the attention of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who expressed his approval by commenting “nice” on a picture of the car on his X platform.

Interestingly, this is Shaq’s second Cybertruck purchase. According to him, it was simply a matter of convenience. His first one was out at his Las Vegas base, and while in Atlanta, he was unwilling to have it shipped out to him, so he simply ordered a second one.

Shaq bought both of his Cybertrucks from Effortless Motors, but the back story is quite intriguing and worthy of mention. He first heard about Effortless Motors after NBA star LeBron James criticized the company for falsely using his name for a marketing ploy. Effortless Motors apologized, claiming it was due to an intern’s error. The resulting furor put Effortless Motors on Shaq’s radar, and he decided to reach out. He contacted the company and happened to see the Cybertruck.
