Getting his kicks on Route 66: Hitting the road with a helpful mission in mind

Ever have one of those bucket list items that suddenly is a reality. That road trip you have wanted to take for 15 years, a trip back to your childhood and beyond, to parts of the country and the continent where you’ve never been.

Well folks, I planned my trip down Route 66 this year. I postponed it again and again, but my dream has become a reality.

Before I go any further, I would like to take this moment to thank Robert Alfers and Carter Hammett, who have allowed me the opportunity to share this trip with you. It’s not just a trip about me getting my kicks on Route 66. It’s about making connections with you and other readers and people I meet daily.

The people at our clinics, Spectrum Therapeutic Solutions, compassionately lead mental health therapy, occupational assessments and counselling services throughout Nova Scotia, as well as at Safe Shores Counselling Society, which is dedicated to providing a wide range of therapeutic solutions to individuals in need.

At both Spectrum Therapeutic Solutions and Safe Shores Conselling Society, we work to help people every day through life challenges, opportunities, and other life changing journeys.

Journeys like I am both figuratively and literally on today, perhaps.

To follow along, read my updates on Route 66 — and the occasional hopefully helpful detour here and there.

This journey is helping connect the dots needed to expand our compassionate services at Safe Shores Counselling Society so that we can provide more free counseling to those who need it most.

“Inspired by the principles of the Spectrum Therapeutic Solutions, (we are) dedicated to providing a wide range of therapeutic solutions to individuals in need.

“Our mission, deeply rooted in instilling hope and facilitating positive change, is to enhance health and well-being across a diverse spectrum of clients. We intend to achieve this through prevention, intervention, education, and integrated clinical care,” as our website states.

So hit the road with me as, together, we may just learn some life lessons along the way, toward our ultimate destination of helping one another.

Stay tuned to Route 66 as this empowering and exciting journey continues.

– Sean Maddox, Director of Operations and Programs, Spectrum Therapeutic Solutions and your driver on this journey.
