Route 66: Day 4
I got back on track in Missouri, and found a beautiful campsite using the awesome Hipcamp app. Right along a beautiful river.
Received a lot of assistance from the people at the Joplin History and Mineral Museum, learned so much about the 2011 tornado that destroyed their community and a lot of other incredible history, including that the first photos of Bonnie and Clyde were captured in the town of Joplin.
Being a big football fan and having the time I was able to attend the Pitts Kansas versus Hayes Missouri football game. I have seen a lot of live football pee-wee to professional, you name it. This was one of the best games I have ever seen, Pitt squeaked by with a one point win.
I have been able to catch up on my trip (KMs), spend time exploring the southwest region, the Ozark’s and other places I travelled as a child. Love the lush environment, people as I’ve said before notoriously, generous and helpful.
And yes, for me, Missouri certainly was the gateway to the west.
